DESIGN-BUILD

As a Design-Build contractor, NFE has the team in place to provide a full range of services from site selection to final occupancy. By consolidating these services under our control gives our clients greater control over time and budget—and offers a wide range of cost-effective design and construction solutions without sacrificing architectural aesthetics.

Through a team of in-house staff and independent subcontractors we offer our clients the following services:

  • Building designs and detailing
  • Construction documents such as specifications, project schedules

  • Interior fit-up construction work
  • Communication/Data cabling and network setup
  • Landscape planning and construction
  • Final occupancy approval
  • Maintenance and operation of facilities
  • Renovations and improvements
  • Specialty construction, such as: demolition, environmental, remediation, brownfield improvement, and site clean-up work.


CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT

Permitting, plan approval, constructability reviews of plans, cost-estimates, pre-bid reviews, bid evaluation, partnering, project diary with complete documentation and photographs, project monitoring, scheduling, contractors' pay requests, claims resolutions, as-built drawings, punch list, project close-out, and expert testimony.

 

Technical Approach

I. PRE-CONSTRUCTION PHASE:
  • Construct-ability review of Plans and specifications
  • Pre-construction meeting of all Consultants and Contractors.
  • Attend any Partnering Program and Establish lines of communication between all related parties.
  • Study all Contract documents
  • Review and verify all construction permits required on the project.
  • Establish Field Documentation Procedures and Books
  • Review and verify accuracy of topographical surveys.
  • Study all underground utilities location.
  • Establish procedures for notifying the client of emergency conditions.
  • Establish procedures to handle public complaints and the media.
  • Study all construction materials to be encountered or used on site, including subsurface materials.
  • Evaluate Borrow Pits and transportation routes for hauling.
  • Study disposal areas for surplus materials.

II. CONSTRUCTION PHASE:
  • Review Contractor’s CPM schedule on a regular basis.
  • Arrange and Coordinate all Progress meetings
  • Inspect, Measure, and Document all construction activities in a detailed format.
  • Quality Control Materials inspection and testing.
  • Project Photographs Album (to avoid any future claims)
  • Prepare Project Diary and Progress Drawings with complete documentation.
  • Review Contractor’s Pay requests.
  • Review any Claims or Change orders or requests for time extension.
  • Enforce Environmental Protection Plans for Air Quality, Sediment/Erosion, etc.
  • Enforce Force Protection and Public Safety Plans on a continuous basis.

III. POST-CONSTRUCTION PHASE:
  • Prepare Punchlist
  • Semi-Final and Final Inspections.
  • Final Claims resolutions, if any.
  • Field Audit.
  • Record Drawing with As-Built details.
  • Check and organize all Warranties and O&M Manuals.
  • Final Acceptance and Close-out.
